Come to Thailand

Year 2001 was the first year we hosted 5 YFU American students in Summer Program (6 weeks). They joined the Arrival Orientation Camp in Bangkok for learning about Thai Culture, Thai language, including visiting interesting places, such as, The Grand Palace, The Emerald Buddha, Jim Thompson ’s House and so on. Then the students spent 4 weeks with Thai host families and participated in High Schools with Thai students. There are many kinds of subjects and activities in our schools, such as, Thai cooking, Thai dancing, Art and craft, Sword fighting, Thai boxing, Music, etc. At the end of stay, we arranged Field Trip for students to travel to the Northern part of Thailand. The high light was joining the ‘Mahout Course’ at Elephant Training school. The program finished at a beautiful beach resort. Since that year, we welcome YFU students to participate in 'High School Year Program and Summer Program'.

A year with Thai family will allow you to totally immerse yourself into the Thai culture. Your cultural experience begins in May with a four-day orientation in Bangkok, where you will learn Thai customs, language, and cuisine. You'll visit the magnificent Grand Palace and The Emerald Buddha. You will go to Thai high school the same as Thai students. The bulk of your program will be spent attending classes with Thai students and living with your host family. Although students will discuss specific classes and activities with their individual counselors, the program is designed to get the best overall look into the Thai culture and way of life. Students will participate in Thai language, dancing, music, sword fighting, and Muey Thai (Thai boxing) classes, as well as other subjects depending on school subjects. You will be invited to join in school activities and asked to participate as a resource in English and/or your native language conversational classes.Orientations will also be held during the year and prior to your departure. Your End of Stay program will be spent exploring the Northern region - attending an Elephant training Camp and Safari, traveling to Chiang Mai, "the Rose of the North.” Experience the adventure, learn from your host family, embrace the tranquility and peace, and revel in the jewels of Thailand!
